He was predeceased by: his siblings, Roger Barnes, Richard Barnes, Donald Barnes, Jeanette Newberry, Joan Stout and Charles Barnes.

He is survived by: his wife Gail E. Gibson; his children, Dawn Harris (Billy) of Clinton Twp and David Barnes (Sarah) of Oak Park; his siblings, Max Barnes (Norine) of Sturgis and Joy Ward of Bronson; his grandchildren, Jennifer Marrow (Jessie), Alyssa Harris, Hannah Barnes, Sam Barnes and Joseph Barnes; and his great grandchild Jaxon Marrow.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
