He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeppy Byrd and Marie Byrd (Tait); his wife Sandra Morrison; his daughter Leahanna Spitzley; and his brother-in-law Mel Wank.
He is survived by: his son David N. Byrd (Jean Laymen) of Union City; his siblings, Cristina Wassenaar (Mike) of Bedford, Susan Wank of Battle Creek, Jim Byrd (Karen) of Pennfield, Robert "Bud" Byrd (Leslie) of West Virgina and Jeff Byrd of Urbandale; his grandchildren, Kasey Byrd, Kenny Byrd, Kody Byrd, Shasta Spitzley, Dustin Meece and Ashley Meece; and his friends, Brit and Penny Cronkhite. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
