She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Smith and Naomi Smith (Gorsline); her husband Carl Gates; her son Randy Gates; and her sisters, Harriett Wagner, Janet Fairchild and Patty Fairchild.
She is survived by: her children, Rhonda Howard (John) of Coldwater and Russell Gates (Toni) of Coldwater; her grandchildren, Rodney Jeffries, Jr. (Cendall), LeAnn Jeffries, Brandon Gates and Kayla Gates; her great grandchildren, Austin, Kaylyn, Connor, Zachary, Sasha and Carlie; her great great grandchild Zakai; and her sister Mary Lou Dodson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation (1276 Tate Trl, Union City, MI 49094). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
