Betty Jean Esckelson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Jean Esckelson (Vassar, Michigan), who passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Emery Vandemark and Vera Vandemark (Mulholland); her husband Max Milton Esckelson; her granddaughter Kari Larkin; and her siblings, Freda McMullen (George), Virgil Vandemark, Virginia Mills (Samuel) and Jerry Vandemark (Connie).
She is survived by: her children, Jim Esckelson (Kimberly), Tom Esckelson (Diana), Bonnie Martin (Richard) and Karen Esckelson; her grandchildren, Kristina Weber (David), Jennie Greenwood (Tim), David Martin (Mindy) and Karli Turner (Dusty); and her sister-in-law Betty Vandemark. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Vassar Baptist Church (5880 Frankenmuth Rd, Vassar, MI 48768). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Vassar Baptist Church or Tuscola Community Church.
