He was predeceased by: his parents, Eli Putman and Rosa Putman; his wife Shirley A. Putman; and his brother Robert "Bob" Putman. He is survived by: his daughters, Brenda MacKay (Michael) and Linette Redick (Brian); his grandchildren, Alexis Walsh (Jeff), Hilary Schiefer (Jeremy), Tanner MacKay (Layne), Bailey MacKay, Elijah Redick (Kiyah) and Ethan Redick; his great grandchildren, Bo Walsh, Sloane Walsh, Lucille Walsh, Nola Schiefer, Willow Schiefer, Huxton Schiefer, Scout MacKay, Crew MacKay, Sadie MacKay and Wells MacKay; his sister Esther Thornton (Allen); and his brother-in-law William Auernhamer. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
