He is survived by: his wife Pauline Cesaro Smith; his children, Lisa Zangara (David), Deanna Baker (Gerald), Richard Smith, Jr. and Joseph Smith; his grandchildren, Amanda (Keith), David, Daniel (Morgan), Marie, Mallorie, Shawn, Hanna (Marcus), R. J., Kaira and Kaeli; and his great grandchildren, Kora, Mila and Ella.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
