With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard V. Thomas of Waterford, Michigan, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 4, 2026 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Shirley Thomas; his children, Denise Atkinson and Jeffrey Brewer; his grandchildren, Michael (Isabella), Mario (Rebecca), Justin (Delaney), Emily (Ari) and Chace; his great grandchildren, Noah, Addison, Stell, Michael and Patrick; his siblings, Karen Lynn (late Bob), Cindy LeMarbe (Tim), Mike Thomas (Pennie) and Judith Pierce (late Pete); and his siblings-in-law, Dan Garrett, Linda Jones (Bob) and LouAnne Hensley (Jerry). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home (5630 Pontiac Lake Rd, Waterford Twp, MI 48327). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Bethany Church (1375 Hiller Rd, Waterford Twp, MI 48327).
Memorials may be made to the Heart Association or the Humane Society.
