He was predeceased by: his parents, Loyal Merritt and Doris Merritt (Eastman). He is survived by: his wife Darlene; and his children, Daniel Merritt of Hartford, Belinda Trapp (Ed) of Coloma, Barbara Jones of Watervliet and Christine Pruitt (Daniel) of Watervliet. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Memorial donations in Daniel's memory may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service.
