He was predeceased by : his parents, Victor Nurkala and Lempi Nurkala (Jarvimaki); and his stepfather Konstu Salli. He is survived by : his wife Martha Nurkala of Negaunee; and his children, Kariina Persyn (David), Ordway of Denham Springs, LA and Vance Nurkala (Sandy Lincoln) of Tacoma, WA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
