He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sr. Austin and Leona Austin; and his siblings, Violet, Leona, Charlene, Jane and Raymond.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Austin; his children, Stephanie Austin, James Austin Jr. (Kelly), Trent Austin (Dawn) and Trevor Austin (Deb); and his brother Robert Austin Jr.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home (312 N Main St, Wayland, MI 49348). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In memory of James and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, a military charity of one's choosing, or you may plant a tree in memory of James.
