With profound sadness, we say goodbye to James Jacob Van Dyke Sr. (Wayland, Michigan), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Dyke and Margaret Van Dyke; his former wife Carolyn Ruth Van Dyke (Abel); and his sisters, Virginia Elson, Shirley Locklin and Phyllis Huistra.
He is survived by: his children, James Van Dyke Jr. (Darcy), Sheryl Hoeksma (Simon) and Dan Harries-Fayé (Andrew); his grandchildren, Christina Fischer (Brady), Amanda Jantz (Scott), Alicia Grinage (Layton), Gabriella Seese (Tucker), Colton Van Dyke (Lauren), Tanner Van Dyke (Sydney) and Vivienne Harries-Fayé; his wife Ellen; and his sisters, Barbara Ulberg and Vivian Vos. He is also survived by his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Gun Lake Community Church (12200 M-179, Wayland, MI 49348). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
