He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Tanner and Dorothy Tanner; his brothers, Russell Tanner and Carl Jay Tanner; and his great grandchild Lillian VanderHill.
He is survived by: his wife Anna Mae Tanner; his children, Robert W. Tanner (Kathy), Ronda DeHaan (Marv), Ronald Tanner (Tracy) and Rayanna Oetman (Steve); his grandchildren, Tyce Tanner (Natalie), Chelsea Lottridge (Nick), Kaylah Tanner, Jaclyn DeHaan, Seth DeHaan (Renee), Joel DeHaan (Allison), Gabriel DeHaan (Danielle), Ross Tanner (Bree), Reid Tanner (Brie), Rylie VanderHill (Matt), Samantha McKecknie (Austin) and Justin Oetman (Emma); his sister Ruthann Roxbury; and his siblings-in-law, John Hoeksema (Mary), Ed Bruursema (Maggie), Dennis Bruursema and Shirley Bruursema. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Wayland Christian Reformed Church (303 E Elm St, Wayland, MI 49348). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SON-Life Camp and Retreat Center or the Wayland CRC Forward in Faith fund.
