Gary Wayne Gray Obituary
Gary W. Gray, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in West Branch, Michigan. Born on October 12, 1954, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Kenith and Georgia (Catron) Gray, Gary's life was a testament to his loving, creative, and generous spirit.
After graduating from high school, Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. His dedication to hard work continued as he embarked on a career in the construction profession, laboring diligently in the Detroit and Pontiac areas until his well-earned retirement. Gary's post-retirement years were spent in the tranquil Skidway Lake area, where he was an active and respected member of the Skidway American Legion Post.
Gary's life was defined by the joy he found in simple pleasures. He was the heart of family gatherings, where he could often be found tending to bonfires and enjoying picnics surrounded by his loved ones. His children, Angel (Eagan) Luke, Jessica (Chad) Jurck, and Gary Spaulding, were the pride of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jaxson Czerny, Jaiden Czerny, and Hunter Spaulding, who will remember him for his boundless love and the wisdom he imparted.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his siblings Kenney Gray, Inita Bermudez, Debbie (Doug Spoelstra) Gray, Jimmy (Robin) Gray, and Brenda Dunn. His life was enriched by the company of many nieces and nephews, who will miss his creative storytelling and generous heart. Gary was preceded in death by his wife Sally (Mackenzie) Gray, sister-in-law Sheila Gray, brothers-in-law Loren Bermudez, and George Dunn, who are no doubt welcoming him with open arms.
Gary's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched. His ability to find joy in the everyday and to create lasting memories with those he loved will serve as an inspiration to us all. As we say goodbye to Gary W. Gray, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, creativity, and generosity. His spirit will forever be a guiding light to his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life dinner will be held at the Skidway Lake American Legion Post on January 24, 2025, at 2pm with inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in the spring of 2026.
