It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Edward Schmitt of West Branch, Michigan, who passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Schmitt and Irene Schmitt; his siblings, Tom Schmitt and Phyllis Ostrander; his stepson Joey Belanger; his son-in-law Rodger Williams; and his brother-in-law Norris Day.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Schmitt; his daughter Theresa Williams; and his stepchildren, Pauline King (Tommy), Cindy Glappa (Jim), Vikki Belanger and Jimmy Belanger (Adriana). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
