He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Kartes and Agnes Kartes (Grezeszak); his wife Margaret Kartes (Schneider); his great grandchild Luke Kartes; his siblings, Pauline Sumner, Steve Kartes, Irene Schmidt, Alvena Illig, Johnny Kartes, Lawrence Kartes, Marie Kort, Theresa Lucas and Tony Kartes; and his half-sister Francis Clymer.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Kartes (Mary) of West Branch, Stan Kartes (Micky) of West Branch, Tom Kartes (Linda) of West Branch, Brad Kartes (Debby) of West Branch, Rosemary Ward (Lonnie) of Whitehall and Cecile Kartes of West Branch. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, almost 40 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
