Knoop (Thelen); her husband Jerome Schafer; her son Luke Schafer; her son-in-law Wayne Schneider; her grandson Darren Schneider; her stepgrandson Jason Pompey; her siblings, Marie Warnke (Lawrence) and Joseph; and her brother-in-law Ken Simon.

She is survived by : her children, Mary Schneider (Steven), Kathleen Pung (William), Bernadette Meyers (Gary), Joseph Schafer (Sue), Geralyn Schaefer (Michael), Patricia Pompey (Randel), Thomas Schafer (LeAnn), Ronald Schafer (Lori), Anthony Schafer (Karen), William Schafer (Tisha) and Donna Schrauben (Steven); and her siblings, Janet Simon and Richard Knoop (Cindy). She is also survived by 32 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren.

A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel (210 N Westphalia St, Westphalia, MI 48894). Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (201 N Westphalia St, Westphalia, MI 48894). A committal service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery (201 N Westphalia St, Westphalia, MI 48894).
