He was predeceased by: his parents, William C. Hanses and Frances Hanses (Majesta); and his siblings, Betty, Robert, Francis (Bernie), Donald, Paul and Mary Margaret.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Louise; his children, Steve (Karen), Jan Bozung (Jerry), Larry (Mary), Dale (Connie) and Julie Lenneman (Kevin); his in-laws, Jim and Louise Gensterblum; and his sister Bernita Marie Gensterblum (Leon Densmore). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and one great- great granddaughter.
A rosary was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel (210 N Westphalia St, Westphalia, MI 48894). Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Church (201 N Westphalia St, Westphalia, MI 48894).
