He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Smith and Stella Smith (Rives). He is survived by: his wife LeeAnn; his daughters, Loryn and Liz; his grandsons, August, Dorian and Gavin; and his siblings, Willie, James and Karen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in his name to the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.
