He is survived by: his wife Marie Van Essen; his brother Gary Van Essen (Wanda); his children, Rod Van Essen (Cindie) and Kim Bolitho (Tim Miller); and his grandchildren, Renee Lahiff (Jason), Ronda Varnesdeel (Bernard Jr.), Robin Bolitho (Beau Kennedy), Sean Van Essen and Bryan Van Essen. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
