He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Whitney and Vera Whitney; his son Douglas Whitney; and his stepson Garry Frye. He is survived by: his pets, Chessie and Nikita; his wife Nancy Whitney; and his children, James "Jim" Whitney, Gledis Frye (Cindy), Jamie Frye (Cindy), Gilbert Frye (Anita) and Tammy Geurink (Bryan). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
