Bonetta Jo Bowling Obituary

Bonetta "Nita" Jo Bowling, 70, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 11, 2025. She was born on October 10, 1955, to George and Ida Belle Meadows, who preceded her in death.

Nita was also preceded in death by her sister, Candace Meadows; her husband, Nicholas Bowling; and her daughter, Jennifer (Dunn) Ross.

She is survived by her three children, Billy Dwayne Dunn Jr. of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Stacy Joe Dunn of Eugene, Oregon, and Jacqueline Fountain of Arizona. She also leaves behind three granddaughters, Chelsea, Kristena, and Demetria, and three great-grandchildren, Scott "Buster," Kynzlee "Beauty," and Blair. Nita is also survived by her siblings, Georgia (Roy) Brooks, Teddy Black, Billy (Susan) Meadows, and Rhonda (Mark) Sanders, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Nita retired from the University of Michigan and enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and sharing a warm cup of coffee with those around her. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. A devoted mother who ensured her children were provided for.

Nita will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering work ethic, and her charming southern accent that brought comfort and warmth to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will take place at Nie Family Funeral Home, 320 N. Washington Street, Ypsilanti, from 4pm-7pm on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Funeral service will be held at Nie Family Funeral Home on Friday, November 21, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am. Gravesite services following.
