He was predeceased by: his son Ryan; his parents, Jerald Boerman and Harriet Boerman; his father-in-law John Betten; and his sister-in-law Kim Betten.
He is survived by: his wife Diane; his daughters, Emily Boerman and Marissa Boerman; his sister Dawn (Brian VanderHulst); his mother-in-law Jan Betten; his sisters-in-law, Judy Betten, Kris (Don Swackhammer) and Jodi (Dave Heneveld); his nieces and nephews, Josh Swackhammer, Nate, Monica Swackhammer, Rachael, Aaron Walters, Matthew, Megan VanderHulst, Leah, Seth and Micah Heneveld; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Aiden, Owen, Brysen Swackhammer, Noah, Adah, Benjamin Walters, Noella and Thys VanderHulst; and his daughter Hope.
