He was predeceased by: his parents, Harrison Gingrich and Mildred Gingrich; his wife Marilyn Gingrich; and his son Steven A. Franklin. He is survived by: his children, Mary Bolton and Keith Franklin (Tracy); his grandchildren, Steve Franklin (Sarah), Levi Franklin (Laurie), Christina Franklin (David), Justin Franklin (Jeanette) and Lucretia Collins (Johnny); and his daughter-in-law Jan Crothers (Jeff). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
