He is survived by: his wife Joyce (Venhuizen); his children, Nancy, Jim Steenwyk, Laurie, David Sluiter, Sally and Tom Scholten; his great grandchildren, Brian, Kim Steenwyk, Katie, Paul Stewart, Aaron, Christa Steenwyk, Andrew, Heidi Steenwyk, Jared Sluiter, Kylie, Ryan Wissner, Kyndra Sluiter, Cort, Kim Scholten (Hadley), Connor Scholten and Chace Scholten; his brother Alvin Deters; and his sisters-in-law, Norma De Jonge and Carol Vanden Bosch.
