He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Edward Messelt and Gladys Isabelle Evelyn Messelt (Wiggerson); his wives, Mavis Knutt of Rock Lake and Jean; his sisters, Carole (Egland) and Glenda (Payne); his son Jeffrey; and his granddaughter Annie.
He is survived by: his children, LeAnn and Bruce; his stepchildren, Kathy, Sally and Fred; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas, Brooke, Katie, Ellie, Tracy, Stefan, Cindy, Rory, Andy, Robert, Corrie, Elizabeth, Dino, Katherine, Wendell, Daniel, Julie, Warren, Travis and Stephanie; and his sister Mavis. He is also survived by the many nieces, nephews, family members, colleagues, and friends.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials are welcome at Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness or The Light Left On Foundation (in honor and memory of Annie Messelt).
