He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy (Lola Matson) and Hayward; his brothers, Darryl, Richard and Quentin Matson; and his sisters-in-law, Pat Matson and Gwen Matson.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Matson; his children, Cynthia Meierbachtol (Bruce), Gordon Matson (Anna), Valerie Curry (Jeff), Renae Zager (Eric) and Clay Matson (Jade); his siblings, Roy Matson, Gene Matson (Char), Greg Matson (Carolyn) and Lorelei Thompson; and his siblings-in-law, Marlene Thompson and Robert Knutson (Janice). He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was also a board member for St. John's Lutheran home for 34 years, and a part of their Foundation Board.
