He was predeceased by: his parents, George Sr. Harstad and Alpha Harstad (Olson); and his siblings, Kenneth, Emmet, Clinton, Odell Harstad, Georgia Smith and Vivian Giese.
He is survived by: his wife Marlis Harstad; his children, Jeff Harstad (Lisa) of Alexandria, Renee Lynch (John) of New Milford, Scott Harstad of Ten Sleep, WY, Doreen Strom (Eldon) of Barret, Todd Harstad (Shana) of Ten Sleep, WY and Josh Harstad (Stephany) of Alexandria; and his siblings, Donald, George Jr. Harstad (Elaine) and Leonna Carlson. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
