He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Nelson and Frieda Nelson (Paulsen); his brother Bob Nelson; his former wife Mary Nelson (DeBettignies); and his sister-in-law Eunice Nelson.
He is survived by: his brother Curt Nelson; his children, Dan (Sue Arnold), Brian (Sue) and Nancy; his grandsons, Mack (Kim), Jake (Abigail Smits), Gabe and Spencer Hanson; his great grandchild Jordan (Robyn Widley); and his caregiver Jess Moen (Becca Hillbrand).
