He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Engebretson and Darlene Engebretson (Oberg); and his sister Sharon Dronen (Dwight). He is survived by: his wife Kathy Engebretson (Sheehan) of Mary's Catholic Church; his children, Ryan Engebretson (Paula), Kevin Engebretson and Sarah Spanswick (Tyler); and his sister Susan Engebretson (Scott Carlson). He is also survived by cousins, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Steve's family.
