Catherine Lee Obituary
The Funeral Mass for Catherine M. "Kate" Lee will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31st, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba, MN with Father Paul Breza officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Lee, 96, of rural Elba, MN died Tuesday morning, January 27, 2009 at her home. Catherine Mary Marking was born October 26, 1912 in Kellogg, MN to John and Margaret (Arens) Marking.
She attended rural Wabasha County schools. On April 6, 1935 she married Michael M. Lee at Conception, MN; he died January 18, 1993. The Lee's farmed in rural Elba, MN since 1950. Catherine enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed country music, gardening, traveling, dancing and playing cards. She was a member of Plainview and Elba Senior Citizens, Old Settler's Club, St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and St. Aloysius Ladies Group in Elba.
She is survived by three sons, Duane (Maxine Sims) Lee of Plainview, MN, Gary (Joan) Lee and Larry (Terry) Lee both of Altura, MN; two daughters, Marlene (James) Erpelding of Belleville, WI and Janice (Edgar) Hansgen of St. Charles, MN; sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great granchild; two sisters, Margaret Graff of Chester, MT, Dorothy Weir of Medford, WI; and one brother, Ervin Marking of Kellogg, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister, and one son, Donald. Friends may visit at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, MN from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30th, with a Rosary Service at 4:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also visit one hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday.
