He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul McAlpine and Shirley McAlpine (Dearing); his siblings, Barb Gottsch, Mary Swenson and Tom McAlpine; his son Danny McAlpine; his parents-in-law, Eugene (Mac) and Mary McDonough; and his brothers-in-law, Mike, Harry McDonough and Loren Swenson.
He is survived by: his wife Rita McDonough of Mary's Catholic Church; his children, Margaret Webb (Chris), Judy Callahan (Jeff), Pat McAlpine, Susie Peterson (Tim Zahn) and Mark McAlpine (Kara); his grandchildren, Emily Greniger (Ian), Kaitlyn Webb, Mackenzie Lukes (Bret), Chase Callahan, Dawson McAlpine (Maggie), Sierra McAlpine, Caden, Griffin Peterson, Owen, Claire Zahn, Emma and Ethan McAlpine; his great grandchildren, Asher Greniger, Georgie and Hattie McAlpine; his siblings, Cathy Jude (Gary), Mike McAlpine (Ann) and Teri O'Connell (Ed); and his siblings-in-law, Helen Reiland (Dan), John McDonough (Barb), Tom McDonough and Dale McDonough (Mary). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Timothy's Catholic Church and/or the Annandale Care Center.
