He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Gutknecht and Martha Gutknecht (Luedtke); his wife Viola Mae Kantola; and his brothers, Elmer, Victor, Marvin and Ervin.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Anthony (James) of Deer River, Leslie Elvert (Steven) of Rochester and Larry Gutknecht (Mary) of South Haven; his grandchildren, Laura (Dan), Karissa (Scott), Jaana (Tim), Hannah, Jamie, Andi, Joe (Kelly) and Sarah (Jake); his sister Rosie Dutton of Coon Rapids; and his sister-in-law Carol Gutknecht of New Hope. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
