He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smolich and Violet Smolich (Mattson); and his sister Elinor Baum. He is survived by: his sister Linda Murphy; his brother-in-law George Baum; and his nieces, Jackie Mueller (Todd) and Jodi Saegegger (Doug).
