He is survived by: his mother Elizabeth Elyce Petersen (Baier) of Austin; his wife Deborah Petersen of Austin; his daughters, Lauryn Rosenthal (Gage) of Hastings and McKena Petersen (Ethan Trumpy) of Fountain City, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Carl Michael Rosenthal and Elaine Claire Rosenthal; his siblings, D. J. Petersen (Julie) and Mary McGrane; his brother-in-law Tom Engel; and his nieces and nephews, Jackie McGrane, Alexa Eden, Katie Furniss (Kyle), Colin McGrane, Connor Petersen (Ally Luthe), Aubrey O'Connor (Alex), Maia Petersen and Josie Engel. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center (1304 21st St NE, Austin, MN 55912).
