We announce the death of LaVerne R. Thompson (Baudette, Minnesota), born in Deer River, Minnesota, who passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 96. He was predeceased by: his parents, Marybelle Dorothy Thompson (Peck) and Howard LeRoy Thompson; his siblings, Helen Arver, Sylvia Stangland, Harlow Thompson, Lyle Thompson and Howard Thompson; his granddaughter Angie Thompson; and his great grandchild Tristan Westlake.

He is survived by: his children, Rocky Thompson (Lori) of Lake, Kenny Thompson (Terri) of Lake, Sandy Peterson (Pete) of Lake, Marty Thompson (Pam) of Lake and Jeff Thompson (Vickey) of Lake; his siblings, Rodney Thompson and Lorraine Storlie; his siblings-in-law, Marion Benson and Bill Benson; and his wife Irma. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild and great-great-grandchild.

The military honors was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Pitt-Riverside Cemetery.
