He is survived by: his wife Marlys Elaine Ordorff of John's Lutheran Church; his children, Teresa Goorhouse (Garret), Michelle McKusick (John) and Jimmy Schermer Jr. (Eileen); his siblings, Keith Schermer (Sally) and Ora Mae Wiedema; his sister-in-law Darla Schermer; and his grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, Katelyn Goorhouse, Stuart Long, Milissa Holland (Jonathan Westberg), Isabella and Alexander Schermer. He is also survived by great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
