He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Schmitz and Josephine Schmitz (Gansen); and his stepdaughter Cindy Adams Ellis. He is survived by: his wife Becki; his children, Lowell (Brenda), Brian (Sandy) and Jody Herrmann (Steve Gansen); his stepdaughter Bridget Backman (Eric); his stepson-in-law Aaron Ellis; and his siblings, Darlene Schorn (Jim), Rita Rademacher (Ron) and Allen Schmitz (Sharon). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
