With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Karsten George Verke of Bemidji, Minnesota, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Verke and Martha Verke (Bendickson); his wife Joyce Elaine Day; his son Kim Verke; his siblings, Evelyn North and Morris "Bud" Verke; and his grandson Eric Verke.
He is survived by: his children, Bruce Verke (Viv) of Grand Rapids, Jim Verke (Brenda) of Bemidji, Bryan Verke of Bemidji, Karen Hightshoe of Bemidji, Brenda Bonilla (Nelson) of Worthington, Minn, Nadine Winegard (Terry) of Evergreen and Andrea Verke of Rifle, Colo.; and his brother Edward Verke of Bemidji. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be directed to the Bemidji Veterans Home in honor of Karsten's military service and the care he received.
