He was predeceased by: his father Donald "Buck" Mayer; his stepfather Gene Schwartz; his brother Terry Mayer; and his daughter Tammy Jungwirth. He is survived by: his mother Cleo Ann Schwartz; his wife Theresa Mayer; his children, Christina Mayer and William Jones; his siblings, Greg Mayer (Tammy), Joe Mayer (Lynne), Jeffrey Mayer, Debbie Little (Jim) and Lavonne Gilbertson (Russ); and his grandchildren, Austin Jones, Tristen Thompson, Dominick Torgeson and Allison Ramsey. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.
