She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin Thornton and Pauline Thornton (Starman); her husbands, Ray Plante and Howard Helle; her children, Richard, Steve, Diane and Keith; and her children-in-law, Cheryl, Diane and Leonard.

She is survived by: her children, Judy Vasend (Don) of McIntosh, MN, Dan Plante of Bemidji, Glen Plante of Saint Paul, Mark Plante of Trail, MN and Linda Plante of Bemidji; and her brother Alvin "Junior" Thornton of Grand Forks. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
