He was predeceased by: his father Joe Sheppard; his aunt Teresa Carlson; and his grandparents, Howard, Doris Sheppard, Clarence and Eleanore Olson.

He is survived by: his mother Claire Sheppard; his sisters, Kjell Eken (Chad) and Betsy Sheppard; and his niece Eleanor Eken. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a large community of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to use monetary gifts to make a donation to the Bigfork Fire Department in memory of Matt.
