He was predeceased by: his parents, Waino Makkyla and Eva Makkyla; his brothers, John and Winston; and his son-in-law John Gearns.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his sisters, Gale Claesson, June Berdice and Grace Makkyla; and his children, Jamie Makkyla, Denise Makkyla, Jason Makkyla (Kathy), Jessie Gearns and Rachel Smith (Regan). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and several grandchildren.
