He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry J. Smith and Marie C. Smith; his siblings, Micky Smith, Henry Smith Jr., Bill Smith, Dolly Byington, Gloria Schwaab, Terry Siblerud and Louise "Tiny" Ryan; and his son-in-law Harold Millner.

He is survived by: his wife Christine Smith; his children, Annette Millner, Angie Smith, Andrea Smith and Gordon Smith Jr.; and his sisters, Lorraine Fallas, Marie "Sobig" Hanson, Beverly Heisler and Rosie Azzolina. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren.
