He was predeceased by: his parents, Luverne Delores Penner (Silbernagel) and Lawrence Penner; his sister Pamela Penner; his daughter-in-law Anne Penner; his parents-in-law, Grace and Vetty Kohout; and his siblings-in-law, Lawrence and LaVerne Kohout.
He is survived by: his wife Irene Grace Kohout; his children, Andy, Tofer (Gail) and Jenny Hehir (Chad); his grandchildren, Amber Grace, Joe, Cooper, Macin, Logan, Ava and Bryce; and his siblings, Lesley Anderson (Rob), Jean McLearen, Jim Penner (Wanda), Wendy O'Brien (Rick), John Penner and Julie Haataja (Doug). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Blaine VFW- SGT John (1374 109th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434). The military honors will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery (7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55450).
