He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Albert Drabek and Florence Drabek (McKinley); his grandson Michael Drabek, Jr.; his wife Margaret Drabek (Johnson); his children, James Drabek (Barbara), Diane Dennstedt (Tom), LuAnn McHale (Shaun), Michael Drabek (Juanita) and Stephen Drabek; and his siblings, Richard Drabek and Arlene Drabek. He was also cherished by 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

“I will always miss brother Gene. He had a big personality and knew half of Bloomington through his carpentry work. He made and kept friends. Living to 90 many of his friends like "Bodie", "Burley", have passed. They all welcomed Gene with a story and a laugh. Gene worked on my townhouse in SLP and did jobs well into his 80's, He was a gentle man. Little too strict with Jim, his oldest son ( my opinion). Love and prayers to dear brother "Geno". Arlene Drabek, sister.....”
