He is also survived by four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

“Growing up in the 60s and 70s, I was a lucky young kid who had an uncle who taught me hard work always came with a fun time! Throughout the years I had never forgotten my uncle Mel and he would be on my mind and my heart every year of my life. While growing up in CA, my aunt Lorette and uncle Mel would come out to visit us, my Mom (Rhodis) my brother Dale and I. Uncle Mel and my aunt always made sure we did something Big before they went back home to MN. Big! Like Disneyland & others! Love you, Uncle Mel”
