He was predeceased by: his parents, Perry Sands and Ragna Sands (Warp); and his siblings, Donna, Marilyn and Delburt.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, Natalie Embertson (Larry), Mike Sands (Rebecca), Jodie Dahl (Delray) and Amy Sands (Mark Christopherson); his grandchildren, Jeffrey Sands (Ashley), Sarah Sands, Katie Bentz (Justin), Mark Sands, Bethany Tschida (Lucas), Erica Braun (Andrew), Jenna Dahl (Dillon Solid), Grant Mathiason, Gretchen Mathiason, Jaret Embertson and Abigail Dahl (Chris Rathey); his great grandchildren, Autumn, Tate, Axton, William, Ryan, Julia, Cole, Greta, Ava, Westin and Evan; and his sister Diane Eiker.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (1420 S 6th St, Brainerd, MN 56401). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Brainerd, MN.
