She was predeceased by: her parents, William Brinkman and Rose Brinkman (Klemmer); her husband Max Gilbert; her siblings, Ursuala, Valeria, Cleo, Margaret and Al; and her grandson Joshua Gill.
She is survived by: her pet Ernie; her brothers, Gib (Carol), Orville Brinkman (Judy) and Billy Brinkman (Carol); her children, Charlie Gilbert (Jody), Susan Gill, Cindy Peppe (Craig), Linda Thomas (Dan) and Danny Gilbert (Sue); her grandchildren, Nick Gilbert, Lonnie Gilbert (Heidi), Amber Gill, Hank Peppe (Katja), Madolyn Zeleny, Neil Thomas (Angie), Kyle Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Luke Gilbert (Beth) and Sara Gilbert; and her great grandchildren, Abigail Rose Gilbert, Jayleigh Renae Nanez, Lennox Maximus Gilbert, Layton Wesley Gilbert, Lovey Presley Gilbert, Maci Rose Peppe, Chelsea Renee Zeleny, Brantley Gilbert Zeleny, Layla Luu Thomas, Decker Daniel Thomas, Maverick Max Thomas, Rocco Ryno Thomas and Callan D Gilbert.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Halvorson-Taylor Funeral & Cremation Care (512 S 8th St, Brainerd, MN 56401). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location.
Sally and Max were long contributors to the Alzheimer's association and local food shelves among many other charities. Please consider donating to these important causes in lieu of any gifts or flowers to honor Sally's memory.
