He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Ittel and Eleanor Ittel (Hahn); his grandson Jamison Ittel; his sister Ardyce Haarstick; his siblings-in-law, Keith Haarstick, Melvin Schmidt, Harold Schmidt, Charles Banks, Carolyn Ittel and Glenice Schmidt; his niece Kimberly Massey; and his parents-in-law, Hubert and Elsie Schmidt (Ruge).

He is survived by: his wife Lorna Schmidt; his children, Daniel Ittel (Dona), Deanne Carlson (Jeff), Jon Ittel (Sue) and Jodi Brakke (Gerry); his grandchildren, Anya Oulman (Tom Holzinger), Garrett Ittel, Raelene Roschlan (Jessica), Caitlin Carlson, Tyler Ittel, Ashley Tompkins (Cameron), Jessica Ittel, Bryant Brakke (Chloe), Brenton Brakke and Abbey Brakke; his siblings, James Ittel and Donna Banks; and his sister-in-law Nelda Schmidt. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
