He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward John Vandergon and Kathryn "Katie" Vandergon; his wife Catherine Marie Shauer; and his sisters, Connie Yantes and Mary Kay Crockford.
He is survived by: his sister Pat Stumpf; and his children, John (Kathleen), Mary Clare Hilgardner, Constance Vandergon, Thomas (Gini), Paul (Susanne) and Mark (Meg). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
